New shiny! :D

A new mobile phone this time courtesy of Orange. A Motorola Dext handset this time. While I'm really liking the interface it seems to be missing some of the features of the N85 it replaces....like tethering and a flash for the camera.

The tethering is something I will miss for sure, I might end up having to keep the N85 to use as a modem with laptop when away from home and swapping SIMs. Maybe tethering will be implemented by the time Android 2.0 finds it's way to my handset.

The touch screen/QWERTY keyboard combo works really well. Glad I went for a device with both, think a touch screen would prove a bit frustrating but the combo is a good match.

So far I've found battery life rather poor, but as I tweak settings and learn about how the phone works battery life is slowly improving. I reckon it might actually last a day one a single charge now (at first I was getting 4 or 5 hours tops)!

First hike with new tent

So... after much deliberation we finally decided on a tent. We went for a Vaude Mark ii Light. A little over budget really, but figured the extra £40 we had to find was worth it to shave off best part of a Kg from the standard Mark ii price.

Just booked a campsite in the Peak District, Helen has bought herself a nice new rucksack. So now to work out a route around the campsite!

Should be fun. Expect to see photos from the trip appearing before long (probably in my Flickr pages). :)
